I can't believe it's been almost a month since I spent such a fun long weekend in New York City / I can't believe I haven't been to the city in almost a month! If you follow along on Instagram, I'm sure you remember seeing some posts and quite a few Insta stories (oops, sorry!) from that weekend, but I wanted to go a little more in detail about what exactly I did for those few days. There is so much to do and so much to see that I figured it couldn't hurt to share some of my recommendations in case any of you are heading to the city soon. Hey, maybe this will even inspire some trips there - it is one the best cities in the world after all!
All in all I was so excited and had so much fun being a tourist in my own city. Now of course, I can't technically call New York my city (yet), however it is the city I grew up going to and the one I have come to love so so much. With that being said, despite how many times I've been to the city, there are so many 'New York' things, I had never done! Shocking, I know. Needless to say, I was thrilled to be spending the weekend with a friend who had never been to NYC and other friends who were down to explore.
Of course there are a million and one things to do in New York, but the ones I'm sharing below are definite highlights. Perfect for a long weekend! My friend who had never been to the city said she was happy with what she saw and did in the short amount of time she was there (we did many of the things listed below). Also keep in mind, this was just three days - if you're there for a longer period of time you'll be able to see and do way more!
As I was typing this post, I figured it would be way too long if I went into detail about every single thing I did that weekend. To keep it short and sweet I'm going to share some highlights and then share all of my recommendations below. As I think back on that wonderful weekend, I'm having a hard time choosing what my favorite moments were, because it was just that good! Mostly in part because of the people I was with, but also because New York is just that magical.
Running through Central Park made my heart very happy and was just so so beautiful. Can't recommend a stroll (or run!) through there enough. Going to the Top of the Rock has been on my bucket list for quite some time, so needless to say I was thrilled to get to see the unforgettable sights of the city that it offers. And if I'm going to let my stomach do some talking here... a definite highlight was finally getting to Murray's Bagels - I've been dying to go for ever and if you know me you know I love my bagels! ....p.s it was worth standing in line for!
There are so so many other worthwhile and amazing things to see, do, and eat in the city that my highlights from that weekend barely do it justice! If I'm being totally honest, I don't even think a long weekend is even enough time to truly let the city give you all it's got. However, a solid long weekend will certainly do, and most definitely leave you wanting more!
